We set out to make Tarmac Online reach priority 2 of the guidelines of the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and whilst we have not fully achieved these yet we have constructed Tarmac Online to meet the spirit of the recommendations as much as possible. We are working on achieving full priority 2 compliance as soon as possible.

As part of the design process for Tarmac Online we have:

  • Never used colour only to convey information
  • Made sure that our text can be re-sized
  • Used standard fonts so that they are easy to read
  • Ensured that the nevigation throughout the site works in a consistent way
  • Always included information with pictures, so that they can be interpreted by all browers.

Our site has been tested by Abilitynet, a national charity helping disabled adults and children use computers and we will continue to work in partnership with them to make our site accessible from the widest range of visitors.
